Local Self Build Register

The Local Self Build Register exists to make it easy to register your interest in Self Build and Custom Build and help you with suitable sites in your area.

From 1st April 2016, the Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Act 2015 has created an obligation for Local Authorities to maintain a list of people and groups interested in building their own homes, and work to secure sites for self-build and custom build to take place. Local councils in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are also exploring how to support self build and custom build projects.

Ecomotive’s mission is to help more people create their own amazing homes and communities through self build and custom build, so we set up the Local Self Build Register as an independent platform to help meet this need. Essentially the Local Self Build Register aims to make it easier for local authorities to gather information on people to find suitable building plots in their area of interest.
