Oh nooo! My message disappeared too! I forgot to copy it! *sigh* Ok, here we go again

So, hi everybody!

Julian and I know Jackson and Soili already (Hi guys! ). We live in Bristol and we have a flat in St Pauls/Montpelier. Unfortunately, it's way too expensive for the size, it's too small anyway and it's not green at all. So, we have been thinking about a self-built house (it helps to know Jackson and to know that it's achievable!). We are not as ready as Selim seems to be, I think we are in a more similar situation as Soili, but we're keen to meet and make it happen!

There are two difficulties in our situation which we will have to find a solution for (apart from the usual challenges that everybody will go through: the time, the land, the skills, etc.): one is that we already have a mortgage and we don't know what the options will be for us - selling the flat before buying the land and paying for the house (then, where will we live?), paying for two mortgages while-we-build (it'd be too much money a month and the bank won't give us another one anyway.) or something else... The other tricky bit is that we are both freelance and it's the usual dilemma: when we have the money, we don't have the time and vice-versa. Also, sometimes one of us (or both...) has to leave Bristol for work and it can be anywhere in Britain or abroad and for substantial periods of time. Also it's always pretty unexpected. Hard to plan anything in that case.
We'll find a way!

The other thing worth mentioning here is that we are also thinking about kit eco-houses amongst other ways. This is something Soili might be interested to as well, if time is an issue. Does anyone know about them? Do you have an opinion on how good or bad they are? I guess the quality depends on the company too. It's a matter of doing the research.

Anyway, if you guys are meeting up again some day, we would love to join the discussion!
